i am a huge fan of Too faced Cosmetics, and i think they have ALOT of amazing products...but these palettes, in my opinion, are their very best - they are great for everyone , every skintone, and for every look. a total hit!
they actually carry 4 of these boxed palettes in their line, the only one i dont own is the smokey eye palette. that one never talked to me. i have looked at it a buuuunch of times over the years and i just cant bring myself to pick it up. its got some gorgeous pigmented shades, but i just dont think its for me. you can check the smokey palette out, along with these three palettes at www.toofaced.com and www.sephora.com
THE NATURAL EYE PALETTE
the first of these palettes i picked up about 2 years ago, it introduced me to the world of too faced shadows and inevitably kicked off my love/obsession for these palettes. the natural eye palette, is as close to perfect as you can be with a combination of eye shadows. each shades is gorgeous, pigmented and for the most part, soft and buttery. the ONLY gripe i have with this palette is that Nude Beach, even though its a beautiful shade, has alot of fall out. i mean i have glitter all over my face when im done using this, i just wipe my face with a makeup remover wipe, but u can alot use the loose powder trick - where you swipe a think amount of loose powder under your eyes before you do your eye makeup & it catches all the fallout from your shadows, when you brush it away you should have clean cheeks.
each palette comes with 3 "how-to" cards that explain how to achieve 3 different looks using the shadows in each box. obviously you can create TONS of different looks by mixing and matching any of the 9 colors provided. i think its more fun that way!!
**all swatches were done on bare skin with no primer at all - holy pigmentation batman!**
ugh! i hate when i cant capture the true beauty of each color!!
Top: (Day) Heaven, Velvet Revolver, Sexspresso
Middle: (Classic) Silk Teddy, Push-up, Erotica
Bottom: (Fashion) Nude Beach, Honey Pot, Cocoa Puff
my favorite colors in this palette are Push Up, Silk Teddy, Cocoa Puff, and Honey Pot.
each of the 3 "Day" shades are all Matte, velvet revolver is a pretty all over lid color, light crease color, or a blender type shade that you can use to mesh any two shades together. Silk Teddy and Push Up are AMAZING pearl/metallic shades with no glitter. Erotica is a brown with grey undertones that had gold shimmers through it - so pretty. Nude Beach as i mentioned before, has alot of glitter - but alot of fall out. Honey Pot is a no glitter, metallic shade - true gold. and Cocoa Puff is a chocolaty brown with gold shimmers.
any skintone, any age, and look - this palette is a great pick.
THE NAKED EYE PALETTE
after falling in love with the natural palette, i pretty much lunged at this palette in the middle of sephora when i saw it. this is also a GREAT piece to own. i have gone away on long weekends and just brought this palette with me, and i was good to go! you can create so many looks, sexy smokey date night eyes or subtle flirty "just going to starbucks" type eyes. this palette has got you covered!
Top: (Day) In The Buff, Pillow Talk, Like A Virgin
Middle: (Classic) Birthday Suit, Satin Sheets, Unmentionables
Bottom: (Fashion) Pink Cheeks, Lap Dance, Stiletto
My favs in this collection are Satin Sheets, Birthday Suit, Pink Cheeks, and Lap Dance. similar to the natural eye, the 3 day shades in the naked eye are mostly matte shades - Pillow Talk has a super slight shimmer to it. Satin Sheets is FREAKIN GORGEOUS. its a baby pink with a gold duo-chrome, perfect for any look, i find myself picking up this palette sometimes, just for Satin Sheets.
i love how this palette comes with a stark black, it just makes any look you want to create using these shades a little more sultry.
also, a great buy - if your not into golds and browns, you may wanna skip out on the natural eye and go for this naked eye palette. again, any skintone any age any look - this palette got yo back!
THE ROMANTIC EYE PALETTE
since i was now having a love affair with both the natural eye and the naked eye palettes, i couldnt wait to get my hands on the romantic eye palette when it came out. this is the newest of the Too Faced Boxed Palettes, and it may be the cool kid out of the group. it contains a slighting wider color range, featuring purples, pinks, and greens.
i like the packing on this palette so much better then the other two. it still features the 3 "how-to" cards, but it is much thinner then the other two palettes, which i will post a picture of.
Top: (Day) Soulmates, I Do, Un-Veil
Middle: (Classic) Kiss the Bride, Cut The Cake, First Dance
Bottom: (Fashion) Bouquet Toss, Honeymoon, Ever After
first of all, arent all the lovey dovey names the cutest thing ever?! i love that about this palette, really creative and sweet. my favorite shades in this palette are Soulmates, which is a pale yellow with a pink duo-chrome (also incredible as a highlight!), Cut The Cake- which is a metallic icy grey with a slightly pinkish irredescence, and Honeymoon - which is a SUPER pigmented metallic goldish-green. all of these colors are buttery and blendable. because there is more of a color range in this box, you can create a multitude of different looks to match outfits, accessories, whatever. with the other two palettes, the shades are all in the same color family. in this palette you can do a purple look, a green look, brown, neutral, whatever! fun times people!
as always, you can click on any picture to enlarge it. if your a makeup junkie and you dont already have these in your collection, i recommend you pick one up...and i dare you not to purchase another one!!! hahaha
if your just starting out with makeup, figure out which look/colors you like best on yourself - browns or greys - and try out either the naked or the natural eye.
here is the hight difference between the palettes. for some reason, i think that they are now packaging all of the palettes the same way as the romantic eye is packaged...but i could be lying lol dont quote me on that! pretty bulky, but i have no problem dealing with bulk as long as the product inside packs a punch!
Thank you for this post! I have been searching many blogs for a post comparing size and shades. Now I am most definitely buying the natural eye palette.
